Forecast

Issued at: 12pm Tuesday 19 June

Unfortunately there are no signs of any real improvement in the weather forecast for the Festival. But don't believe the 'doom and gloom' outlooks you see on some television channels and in the tabloids. They delight in a muddy Glastonbury. It makes for great images. And those who couldn't (or couldn't be bothered) to get tickets would love to see those who could (and did) wallowing in mud and slurry.

Ok, you will need waterproofs and wellies at Glastonbury. There is no getting away from it. Showers later today (Tuesday) will further soften the ground at Worthy Farm but at least it should be mainly dry and bright when the gates open tomorrow. There may be one or two showers on the site during the day, but it should be reasonably dry when you pitch your tent.

The risk of showers will really increase for Thursday and Friday. On both days there will be some heavy and slow-moving showers. It is even possible there could be some thunder. So be prepared. But even on these wet days there will be some patches of blue sky and sunshine. Temperatures on both days will reach a coolish 19 degrees, whilst overnight temperatures will fall to around 9 or 10 degrees.

As for the weekend, we expect further showers although they may not be quite as heavy as earlier in the Festival. It is likely to become windier over the weekend with quite a brisk northwesterly wind. With temperatures on both days no higher than 18 or 19 degrees it will be quite cool and it will definitely be quite chilly at night.

So look out for tomorrow's forecast if you can. But whilst there will be times during Glastonbury 2007 when you are cold and wet and your favourite band is bombing, you are just as likely to have those moments when it is warm and sunny; the whole site is rocking and you wouldn't want to be anywhere else in the world.
