Which reminds me...

Losey's cinematographic interpretation of Don Giovanni, entirely filmed at La Rotonda near Vicenza. Breathtaking. To be screened immediately after Don Giovanni, and immediately before 'Tis a Pity...

There's a Joe Losey season a-brewing at the National Film Theatre, which will erupt early next year -- restored copies of all his masterworks and a fistful of restored and remastered dvd releases.

His late career British films are immensely powerful. Who said nothing good ever came of McCarthyism?: America's fascist spasm was Britain's cultural gain as so many great talents fled the States for sanctuary here.
