A tribute

After much malicious commenting by people who have no pity for those amongst us who struggle to readjust to the British Isles, I decided to start this posting year with a tribute to 3 artists who accompanied my festivities.

First, and above all, the great Amy Whinehouse, whose Back to Black has been "il tormentone" of Italian radio stations throughout the Christmas holidays:



Then, John Malkovich, whose performance in Dangerous Liaisons is as close as you can get to perfection, and contributes to making this adaptation of Choderlos de Laclos' masterpiece of the best movies of all times:



Then, Jonathan Demme, the director of The Agronomist, the stunning documentary about the life and death of courageous Haitian journalist Jean Dominique, founder of Radio Haiti Inter and brutally murdered by political assassins on 3 April 2000:



Finally, a late entry: Marc Foster, director of The Kite Runner, the well-delivered cinematic adaptation of Khaled Hosseini best-seller about an Afghan writer returning to his battered land in search of atonement:



(I am not posting the trailer because it makes the film look like a CNN documentary on the Afghanistan war, completely missing the point of what the story is about).

So, there you go. Something to read at last!
